Thank you to everyone who has ordered during our closing down sale... your business, as always, is much appreciated. Most of our stock has now gone but there's still some items available and it's getting quite hard to find them on the website so we've made a quick real-time stock page where you can easily see what we have left and order as usual... 

We've made our last batches of soap before retirement and are now open for on-line orders once again from 10am on New Year's Day to sell our final stock. There is limited stock both in the range of products and in numbers but actual stock levels are shown on the website before you order. This will be on a first come, first served basis and once items have sold out there will be no more!

We'd like once again to thank all our customers for your business over the years and wish you all the best for 2025.

All things must come to an end and after 26 years of making and selling soap on a scale I never expected, I'm closing The Natural Soap Company at the end of 2024. All of us, with the exception of Ohla, our wonderful Ukrainian soap maker, are at, past or nearing retirement age and it's not practical for us to go on.

It's been an exciting journey and both lots of fun and lots of hard work and I'd like to thank all our staff, past and present, and particularly all of you, our customers, who have made it such a success over the years. We have done a lot of trade and wholesale business but from the very first days, our retail direct-to-customer sales in person, from our shop and particularly from this website have been the lifeblood of the company.

Our on-line presence during these years makes this one of the oldest websites you may have ordered from... there's not many places where the shopping cart software has been running, with the odd tweak now and again, for over 20 years. However, the process of stopping isn't easy and we are very busy dealing with everything that needs to be done and with outstanding orders. As a result we have taken a reluctant decision to stop accepting further on-line orders while we, almost literally, clear the decks and take stock.

So I'm afraid, for now, we've turned off our shopping cart and we're sorry to disappoint our regular customers. If you're here looking for Christmas presents, you will sadly have to find alternatives.

Our shop in Wells will hopefully be open on reduced hours – Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11am-4pm – until mid December.

We are intending to hold a traditional closing down sale in the next few weeks when we will make remaining stock available in the shop and back on this website... but it will be a limited selection of products, limited stock and on a first-come, first served basis. If you're interested, please do come back and check the site over the next few weeks.

We'd like to wish all our customers and suppliers a peaceful and happy Christmas.

We're past last posting dates for Christmas orders and while you can still order from this site, we're probably not going to send any more orders out now until after the Christmas weekend. We use the Royal Mail and their hard working staff have enough to be getting on with and frankly we'd rather parcels were a little delayed and reached you in good condition than got lost, damaged or delayed in the present disruption.

On the positive side, Inez has said she'll keep our little shop on Wells quayside open from Wednesday through to around lunchtime on Christmas Eve so do drop in for last minute gifts, to treat yourself or just to say hello; it's not as cold up here as it was.

The shop is easy to spot under the gantry on the quay... it's the one with the cat curled up by the warm fire in the window!

We do know it's not quite Christmas but some people like to be more organised than we ever manage so we've made the first batches of our ever popular Christmas soaps... Three Kings, Pomander and Christmas Spice. These are available as individual bars or as a joyful stack of three tied off with a golden ribbon. All three are palm oil free.

МИЛО РУЧНОСТІ is made with Sunflower oil – the national flower of Ukraine –  and is scented with a fresh, lemon scent which, to me, represents hope. 

We're donating every penny of the purchase price for every bar ordered directly to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal at https://donation.dec.org.uk/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal ... so that's a £10 donation to help provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families along with a lovely soap bar on which you're only paying postage.

This is a palm-oil free soap and will only be available while stocks last!

Our little shop on the quay will be closed for winter hibernation as usual throughout January and back open in February.

We are working as normal at our 'factory' so you are welcome to order from this website or, if you're in Wells and don't want to wait for the post, you can place a click-and-collect order and collect from us at Unit 2D, Maryland, Wells.
