Ukraine Flag soap in support of refugee relief efforts
Fri 11 Mar 2022
МИЛО РУЧНОСТІ is made with Sunflower oil – the national flower of Ukraine – and is scented with a fresh, lemon scent which, to me, represents hope.
We're donating every penny of the purchase price for every bar ordered directly to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal at https://donation.dec.org.uk/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal ... so that's a £10 donation to help provide food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families along with a lovely soap bar on which you're only paying postage.
This is a palm-oil free soap and will only be available while stocks last!

Our special Christmas soaps are now in stock
We do know it's not quite Christmas but some people like to be more organised than we ever manage so we've made the first batches of our ever popular Christmas soaps... Three Kings, Pomander and Christmas Spice. These are available as individual bars or as a joyful stack of three tied off with a golden ribbon. All three are palm oil free.
And if you're looking for something a bit bigger, we also have a selection of gift baskets on the website.

Shop opening hours
Mon 5 Jul 2021
Just a reminder that our tiny shop on Wells quay is open from 11am to 4pm on Wednesdays through to Saturdays throughout the summer and into the autumn and winter.
The shop is almost under the gantry on the much-pictured Granary building on Wells quayside (NR23 1JT for SatNav or immediate.occupy.dark for What3Words) so it's easy to find but if you're coming by car you'll need to be parked nearby, either on the quay or in one of the town's other car parks, as there's no parking outside.
Shop window for Pride
Wed 23 Jun 2021
Radclyffe Hall, Marlene Dietrich, Alison Bechdel, Tove Jansson, Frieda Belinfante, Megan Rapinoe and Virginia Woolf grace our shop window this month for Pride in a set of beautiful pen and-ink portraits. Slightly less tastefully, the window also features a limited edition Gay Bar, a multicoloured (though not quite rainbow striped) special edition made from our other soaps priced at £5 per bar, all of which we are donating to AKT (the Albert Kennedy Trust), a charity which provides invaluable support for LGBTQ+ young people facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
We've only made a few batches of this soap so first come, first served...

Pop-up Gay Bar for Pride!
Thr 10 Jun 2021
It's Pride month so we've resurrected an old joke from some years ago and made a few batches of our special limited edition Gay Bar. This mixes some of our other soaps in a frankly poor effort to reproduce the rainbow flag but on the good side the label is mildly amusing, the soap is lovely and we're sending every penny of the £5 asking price for each bar sold directly to the Albert Kennedy Trust, the charity which provides invaluable support for LGBTQ+ young people facing or experiencing homelessness or living in a hostile environment.
This is only available while stocks last and was quite popular when we first did it so order promptly or call into the shop if you'd like some!

The Ostrich in South Creake chooses us!
Fri 16 Apr 2021
I am proud and pleased to say that The Ostrich Inn, South Creake, Norfolk has picked us to supply them with guest amenities in the form of little soaps, hand wash and body lotion.
The building, in the heart of the village, has been empty since 2017, but Teresa and her team have taken it on, plus the cottage next door, and are in the process of re-doing the interior and the exterior to offer letting rooms, a bar and restaurant and a self-catering cottage to book too. The Ostrich will open from 1 July, but they are taking bookings now.
And on top of the fabulous new offering of food, drink and beautiful rooms, I reckon the icing on the cake is the presence of our soaps, custom labelled for The Ostrich, in every room.
Best of luck to all and I'm really looking forward to seeing it when it's finished. Sara

The Soap Shop is back!
Wed 14 Apr 2021
Our tiny shop on Wells quay has reopened, with fresh stock and a touch of paint and we'd be delighted to see you. We stock our full range of soaps, shampoo bars and other products all handmade just up the road in Wells-next-the-Sea, along with some accessories and related products from other suppliers.
The shop is almost under the gantry on the much-pictured Granary building on Wells quayside so it's easy to find but if you're coming by car you'll need to be parked nearby, either on the quay or in one of the town's other car parks, as there's no parking outside.
The shop will be open from 11am to 4pm on Wednesdays through to Saturdays throughout the summer and into the autumn and winter - assuming all is well with the world by then.
Hemp oil is a gift to soap makers, containing as it does essential fatty acids, vitamins and enzymes that are easily absorbed by the skin. This wonderful oil, pressed from the seed of the Cannabis sativa plant (though containing no THC at all!) has been added to this lovely, rich, moisturising soap.
NB This soap is palm oil free
Spice Shaving Oil
Something new to try... a delicious blend of emollient oils combined with the rich, warm, spicy scent of cinnamon and clove essential oils and made into a shaving oil that will give you a smooth, stubble-free shave every time. And it's packed in an endlessly recyclable aluminium bottle, so you'll be doing the planet a favour as well as your face.
Made with just three ingredients, this lovely rich balm is wonderful for moisturising dry skin. Calendula flowers (English marigolds) have long been favoured for their healing properties, and an infusion of these golden petals in olive oil is the basis of this balm. We then add just enough beeswax and it is poured into jars to set. This balm is unscented.
